The most unfortunate part of this anecdote was that a family feud was sparked over it when at the end of the day, the people who should really be taking responsibility here are the parents. Not only did they underestimate their son’s intelligence, but they also had a fractured relationship whether or not they would like to admit it. Clearly, if they hadn’t, he would be comfortable enough to ask his parents directly if he were adopted. Instead, he felt the need to manipulate his aunt for answers.Â
