Many people cannot wait to be grandparents, and the moment their adult children tell them they’re expecting, they get so excited. They get to spoil their grandchildren, play with them all day, and then send them back home to their parents. It’s a lovely part of life that can really bring families together.
For this single Dad, though, the time for Grandma to step into the picture and see her grandson was…. 25 years ago. This man had a child with a woman who soon stepped out of the picture, and he raised this child all alone. His mother-in-law may have even played a role in convincing her daughter to leave him! So he’s alone with a child, and explains that he raised him. And where was Grandma during all this? She was nowhere to be found.
Now, after a full lifetime of no contact, this woman winds up on this man’s doorstep, and as you can imagine, there was both confusion and strong feelings. Just holding the title of “Grandma” doesn’t make you special to someone, as this lady found out to her utter surprise.
